Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani was born on 19 April 1957 in present day Yemen. At that time (in 1957) Yemen was a British Crown colony.

Father Dhirubhai Ambani was born on 28 December 1933 in a normal family in Chorwad village in Junagadh district of Gujarat state.
Since Dhirubhai Ambani came from a normal family, he used to earn a living by selling pakodas in the hills of Girnar during his studies.
There was a time when Dhirubhai’s family was in financial difficulties so they could not study much and had to drop out of school after high school.

In 1980, under the presidency of Indira Gandhi, the Government of India considered the production of PFY (Polyester Filament Yarn) in the private sector. And the Government of India opened PFY to the private sector.
With the privatization of PFY, Dhirubhai Ambani decided to set up his own plant. But at that time it was necessary to get a license to open a plant whose process was lengthy.
This was a time when India could not import yarn. For this, the government wanted to give a license to a company that produces yarn on a large scale.
Large 43 companies like Tata, Birla applied for licenses. Dhirubhai got the license by giving competition to all these companies.
After getting the license, Dhirubhai called his eldest son Mukesh Ambani from Stanford University to India to run the PFY plant. Thus, it is not possible for Mukesh Ambani to complete his MBA.
As soon as Mukesh Ambani joined Reliance, the company started developing. In 1981, the company started manufacturing textiles, polyester fibers, petrochemicals and yarns.
Mukesh Ambani was working with Rasikbhai Meswani, Executive Director, and Reliance Industries. When Rasikbhai Meswani died in 1986, the responsibility of Reliance was handed over to Mukesh Ambani.

When the Bombay High Court finally ruled in December 2005, Mukesh Ambani took control of Reliance Industries Limited and Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited, while Anil Ambani took control of the rest of the property.
Mukesh Ambani decided to become the world’s largest soil grassroots petroleum refinery in Jamnagar district in the Indian state of Gujarat. The refinery produces 33 million tons of petroleum every year.
In December 2013, Mukesh Ambani partnered with Bharti Airtel to set up a 4G network in India. In 2015, Reliance launched 4G Broadband facility.
